The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case convict Vinay Sharma’s plea challenging rejection of his mercy petition by President Ram Nath Kovind.
A three-judge Bench headed by Justice R Banumathi said there was no merit in his contentions and that the President didn’t consider all relevant material.
“The note put up before the President is a detailed one and all relevant materials were placed before the President and upon consideration of the same, the mercy petition was rejected,” it said.
