Kargil war hero Lieutenant-General Yogesh Kumar Joshi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, presented the gallantry as well as Distinguished Service awards to officers, junior commissioned officers, soldiers and the next of kin of the martyrs at a solemn investiture ceremony in Udhampur on Thursday.

During the ceremony, the Northern Command chief presented five Bar to Sena Medals (gallantry) and 73 Sena Medals (gallantry) to the brave soldiers. Eight of the awardees were given the award posthumously. The awards were given to the next of their kin.
