A body representing the displaced people of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) on Friday protested here, seeking relaxation in formalities to claim the Rs 2,000-crore development package announced by the Union Government.
The displaced families alleged the process to verify their identity to claim the package has been very slow.
“Revenue Department authorities-scrutinising the displaced people’s files-seek a number of documents like revenue records, State Subjects and Aadhaar cards for verification and majority of the families are unable to provide these documents,” said Capt (Retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib, the chief the POJK Displaced Peoples’ Front.
“We are holding this protest for relaxation in these formalities,” he told reporters.
Chib said more than 5,000 families have completed the formalities but are yet to receive the Rs 5.5 lakh package promised to each one the families.
Chib told the DPs to remain aware and united at every time. He also requested to both governments to look into their problems and solve them as earlier.
Others who participated in the rally were J.P Sharma, R.P Singh, Kulbir Singh Chib, Sakandya Devi, Capt Sudesh Chib, Kehar Singh, Thoru Ram Chib, Raj Kumar Verma, Babloo, Bodh Raj, Pritma Kumari, Gagan Singh, Capt Behari Singh, Tirath Singh, Tara Singh, Bimla Devi, Rani Devi, Krishan Singh, Subash Singh Chib, Kashmir Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Sham Singh, Baldev Singh, Ch.
