JAMMU: Former President Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu, Abhinav Sharma made a fervent appeal to the all the people of Jammu Province, that in all future elections the voter must reject the traditional politicians, who have made the elections as their profession rather than a means to serve the people.
“The little development made on the ground during the last seventy years in Jammu Division is testimony, to the fact that these professional and traditional politicians have little concern and care for the common Dogras, their culture, language and traditions,” Senior Advocate Abhinav Sharma told reporters here on Saturday.
The job of these traditional politicians, he said, remains confined to inauguration of black-topping of roads, inauguration of showrooms and transformers, rather than making laws for the benefit of the common man.
Because of their remaining averse to taking part in law making, there is at present, no employment policy, no traffic management, no improvement in educational system, he said.
Coming to the Marh Assembly Constituency, he said, the overall developmental scene of the constituency is like the proverbial saying “nearer the church farther from God”.
The constituency, he said, starts at a distance of few km from the Winter Capital of the State but even a single visit to the constituency shall reveal that this is one of the most backward constituency of the State, which has yet to see the light of independence, let alone enjoying the fruits of the independence.
On educational front, there is no degree college and the students have to traverse for three hours all the way from Marh to Mishriwala, he said adding that on health front, no Sub-Divisional Hospital in the entire constituency and the people have to content themselves with one Public Health Centre, where doctor is rarely available.
On other fronts, no irrigation facility, erratic and often not available electric power, no roads connectivity to the villages, and the only road in use is broken and full of pits and ditches. He suggested State Government some steps to be taken immediately in order to mitigate the problems being faced by the people of Marh Constituency.
He also demanded State Holiday on September 23 and appealed to people to attend Birth Anniversary celebration of Maharaja Hari Singh on September 23 at 4:00 PM at M
