As soon as in Sabrimala Temple, women are not allowed to enter the pandal of a Kali Pooja Organizing Committee in Kolkata. Despite the opposition of intellectuals, tradition of this pandal has lasted for the last 34 years.
Organizers of Chetla Pradeep Sangha Puja Samiti located in the south of the metropolis said that priests of Shaktipeeth, located in Tarapith of Birbhum district, 34 years ago started this worship. Since that time, women are not allowed to enter Pandal. The Joint Secretary of the Committee, Alwal Guha, told that if a woman is allowed to enter Pandal, then there will be huge disaster in the area. Years old tradition can not be broken.
