Fuel conservation awareness campaign launched in Jammu

Secretary, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), P K Pole today launched a month-long mass awareness campaign about the importance of oil and fuel conservation. Marking the launch, the Secretary flagged off a publicity vehicle carrying the message SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav) which will move in and around Jammu city to make masses aware of oil and fuel conservation. The tagline of the month-long awareness drive 2020 is ‘Indhan Adhik Na Khapayein, Aao Paryavaran bachayein'.

The awareness drive has been organized by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) -a registered society under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. The PCRA is engaged in promoting fuel conservation and its efficient utilization with special attention on major oil-consuming sectors viz Agriculture, Transport, Industry, and Domestic, through its awareness programs. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Secretary said that the objective of the month-long awareness drive is to catch the attention of the public towards conservation of fuel, efficient energy utilization, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

" The campaign will motivate the consumers to minimize their fuel bills and help the nation in reducing oil imports," he maintained. He also said that the campaign would promote best driving habits, better maintenance of vehicles, use of carpooling for going to offices and schools, switching off engines at traffic lights and train drivers to minimize the wastage of fuel.
