Army Chief General Manoj Mukand Narvane arrived in Jammu on a two-day visit on Tuesday amid the situation arising out of the firing from Pakistan along the Line of Control. Here he held a meeting with the field commanders at Nagrota, the 16 Corps headquarters of the army.

In this, he reviewed the security scenario in Jammu division, the situation arising out of shelling in Rajouri, Poonch districts and arrangements to thwart the infiltration of terrorists from across the border. He has instructed the army to vigorously thwart the enemy's plans.

This is the third visit of General Narwane to the Northern Command of the Army after taking over as Army Chief. Earlier, he visited Siachen on 9 January and Udhampur, the Northern Command Headquarters on 22 January. The Army Chief may also visit Kashmir soon. According to military sources, he has given instructions to give a befitting reply to any kind of nefarious act occurring from across the border.

At present, the army's campaign against terrorists continues in a big way in Jammu and Kashmir. So far 28 terrorists have been killed in the state in the new year. With this, about three dozen terrorists and their overground workers have also been arrested. In such a situation, in the meeting of the Army Chief, the current challenges of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and the steps being taken to deal with them were also discussed. Lt. Col. Abhinav Navneet, PRO of the Northern Command of the Army, said that the security situation was discussed with senior Army officers in the meeting.
