Shivaratri Festival is being organized on 20-22 February in Runsu (Shivkhodi) Reasi, Bhole Baba's base camp. Millions of devotees are expected to arrive at the festival. In this, Sobha Yatra, photo exhibition, stalls of various departments, Dangal is being organized along with cultural presentations. Bhasmasur was consumed by Lord Shiva in Sri Shivkhodi Dham, the second largest religious place after Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu. According to the legend, Bhasmasura worshiped Lord Shiva and pleased him, as a result of which Shiva asked for his face and said that whosoever will put his hand on the head, he will be consumed there.

After getting a boon from Shiva, Bhasmasura became arrogant. He thought of devouring Shiva only in his ego and started following him. Sensing the intention of Lord Shiva, Bhasmasura came into the hills of Shivkhori and sat in a cave.

After pursuing Bhasmasura, Shiva took a seductive form and came out of the cave and started dancing. Seeing the beautiful and beautiful woman, Bhasmasura also started dancing with her. During this time, as soon as Shiva placed his hand on his head, Bhasmasura followed him and placed his hand on his head, after which he was consumed there.

The natural cave of Shivkhodi is situated in the hills of Sangad. There is a natural Shivalinga of about three feet inside the cave, which is worshiped. The way inside from the old cave is very narrow and zigzag. It can be removed from there by standing or sitting. About thirteen years ago a new cave was built by the Konkan Railway, so that devotees can enter in any way.

Shivkhodi base camp can be reached from Ransu by any vehicle from Jammu, Katra, Udhampur or any other place. It is a simple four-kilometer climb from base camp to the cave. Apart from this, service of horse sedan can also be taken. All types of facilities are available on the foot track from the side of Shri Shivkhodi Shrine Board Runsu, which has been formed according to the time. Toilets have also been built along with water system. Outside the cave, five-storey buildings have been built. Along with this, arrangements have also been made for locker. Two lakh devotees arrive on the occasion of Mahashivaratri, for which full arrangements have been made.
