Batote is small hill resort located in the lap of Pir Panjal Range of Mountains in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The place is famous for its natural beauty. The summers are very pleasant here and so lots of people come here in May and June to spend a quite holiday. It is in fact, one of the most popular summer resorts of this area. Unlike many other tourist resorts Batote does not have many places of tourist interest in the accepted sense of the word. Most people come here just to gaze at its natural beauty. Others go trekking in the adjoining hills. Bird watching is another popular activity in summer. Once the cold weather sets in, the birds leave for warmer places.

Place to Visit in Batote

Chenub Gorge near batote :
The Chenub Gorge close to the city offer excellent view. You can either walk to the spot or take a pony ride. Indeed, ponies are the best means of transport within the town. Also take time visit Baglihar dam located at a distance of 11 km from the town. It is a run-of-the-river hydroelectric project on Chenub and offers excellent view. Baghu Nala is another place to go; it has a Gurudwara built in the memory of two Kashmiri saints Sant Mela Singh and Sant Rocha Singh. Otherwise, you can just walk through the pathways.

Best Time to Visit Batote
Summer is the best time to visit Batote. The weather is finest during May and June. However, September and October also draw a lot of tourists.
In general. tourists are not advised to visit Batote in winter because of heavy snowfall that often blocks the roads for days. At the same time, we must add that the town offers a different kind of charm during that time and therefore, if you are ready to brave road blockage you are welcome to come here even in the middle of the winter. In fact, many people come here just to witness that.
