Prime Minister Narendra Modi has challenged Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to take the Fit India Challenge started by the Sports Minister Rajvardhan Singh Rathore. Tweeting his own fitness regime with the hashtag #HumFitTohIndiaFit, PM Modi on Wednesday said he does yoga, breathing exercises apart from walking on the track inspired by the Panchtatvas.

"Here are moments from my morning exercises. Apart from Yoga, I walk on a track inspired by the Panchtatvas or 5 elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash. This is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating. I also practice breathing exercises. #HumFitTohIndiaFit," the prime minister tweeted.
In the following tweet, the PM nominated Karnataka CM, Commonwealth Games 2018 gold medal winner Manika Batra and IPS officers to take up the challenge next.

"I am delighted to nominate the following for the #FitnessChallenge: Karnataka’s CM Shri @hd_kumaraswamy. India’s pride and among the highest medal winners for India in the 2018 CWG, @manikabatra_TT. The entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40," the tweet said.

PM Modi also appealed to every Indian to devote some part of the day towards fitness.

Kumaraswamy, who is currently heading the Congress-JD(S) alliance government in Karnataka, replied to PM Modi's challenge. The leader said that even though treadmill and yoga were regular part of his fitness routine, he would rather focus on development fitness of his state.

"Dear @narendramodi ji I am honoured& thankU very much for d concern about my health I believe physical fitness is imptnt for all&support d cause. Yoga-treadmill r part of my daily workout regime. Yet, I am more concerned about devlpment fitness of my state&seek ur support for it. (sic)," he tweeted.

The #HumFitTohIndiaFit or Fit India Challenge requires a person to share a video of their fitness regime on social media and challenge their friends to do so next.

PM Modi was challenged by India's Cricket star Virat Kohli.
The most ardent promoter of the challenge is Union minister and Olympic Silver medalist Rajvardhan Singh Rathore, who regularly shares his videos on microblogging site Twitter.

The campaign has found wide support from sports and film industry. Several stars like Sonam Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Yusuf Pathan have accepted the challenge in the past.
