Many startups specialising in cuisines set up stalls
With the spirit of Bathukamma festival in the air and colourful floral decorations attracting even international tourists, the festivities got only better as the Telangana food festival kicked off from Friday.

The next few days is set to be eventful for foodies, as the sprawling food festival at the People’s Plaza has over 100 food stalls offering cuisines from diverse cultures.

The three-day event being organised by the Telangana Tourism in association with the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation has a medley of options from authentic flavours to traditional dishes, from modern cuisine to novel food concepts and the ever-green local dishes.

Mr. Burra Venkatesham, Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, says the festival is a platform for many people to showcase and promote their culinary skills. For instance there is this ‘Tandoori’ Tea, made in terracotta cups and transferred to normal cups with a unique flavour of its own and there is ‘bubble tea’ which provides a different experience of savouring the whipped up tea.

Attracting people at the festival is the Kitchen on 16 wheels by Vardhav. It is a large food truck with five cuisines and he enthusiastically says that the festival is a great platform for their portable restaurant. “This is the first time we are showcasing the food truck to the customers and we hope to expand to other cities,” he says.

Many startups specialising in cuisines set up their stalls in the food festival. Ms. Anjana Lath of Homebakers.co.in hopes her home made bakery products will get good response. Anjaneyulu, who presented Chocolate Shawarma, is confident it will be lapped up by the public.

Special curated programmes like cooking contests, live kitchen facilities, life style stores, automobile exhibitions etc., will also be a part of the eventful festival. The food festival spread over in 35,000 sft air-conditioned facility in a hygienic environment is one stop centre for food lovers of twin cities and would be an annual event from this year, Mr.Venkatesham said.
