New Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, said the new government had sought a floor test on Wednesday to prove its strength in the Assembly.

Pramod Sawant (45), former Speaker of the Goa legislative Assembly and BJP MLA from Sankhelim in north Goa, was on early Tuesday morning sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Goa, succeeding Manohar Parrikar who died on sunday.

Pramod exuded confidence that the BJP-led alliance would win the floor test and remain intact, adding the party's allies are backing him.He took oath as Goa CM yesterday succeeding Manohar Parrikar .His government has claimed majority with the support of 21 MLAs.The strength of the 40-member House is currently reduced to 36

His new BJP-led government in Goa will face the floor test in the state Assembly on Wednesday to prove its majority just a day after Speaker Pramod Sawant was sworn in as chief minister with an unprecedented two deputies past midnight capping a frenetic day of political wrangling.

The government claims majority with the support of 21 MLAs ;12 from the BJP,and the other three each of allies Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and three Independents.
