Civil society takes out candle march for paying tributes to Kishtwar martyrs

A large number of people under the banner of Civil Society Udhampur today took out a candle march at Gole Market here to pay rich tributes to the Kishtwar Martyrs Chander Kant Sharma, Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar.

The candle march started from Fountain Chowk and after passing through Gole market area, culminated at Fountain Chowk, where tributes were paid to the Parihar brothers and Chander Kant Sharma who were killed by some unidentified gunman in Kishtwar. Social activist Vikram Slathia, Sunil Kumar, Dr Vikram Gulati, Pardeep Bakshi, Arun Gupta, Rajan Sharma spoke on the occasion.

Lauding Parihar brothers and Chander Kants’ courageous role ever since 1990’s in raising voice against militancy and preventing migration of minorities, speakers said that they symbolized a crusade and a cause which has gained further momentum with their killing.

Speaking on the occasion, Civil Society member Ranjit and Parvesh Parihar strongly condemned the selective killing of minority community members Anil Parihar, Ajit Parihar and Chander Kant Sharma by terrorist in broad day light and termed it total failure on the part of civil and police administration. They said that it is quite amazing that due to laxity of police and administration, situation is being created to force minority to migrate from the area.

Installation of CRPF bunkers and installation of CCTV at vital points of city and entry and exit points of Kishtwar.They also demanded dignified compensation of Rs 50 lakhs each for Kishtwar martyrs and Government job for their kin so that faith among minorities could be restored.
