The Ladakh UT administration today denied reports of the death of any patient due to coronavirus in Leh district.

“We outrightly reject all reports in different channels and social media that a case of coronavirus has been reported in Sonam Norboo Memorial (SNM) Hospital in Leh. It is unfortunate that some staff members of the Health Department have leaked official documents pertaining to case studies of some patients and it was carried in media without verifying from the department,” Dr Phuntsog Angchuk, Director, Health Services, Ladakh, told reporters in Leh.

Giving details of three patients, Dr Phuntsog Angchuk said a 52-year-old male patient from Phyang village admitted on January 27 with problem of cough, breathlessness and fever.

“It was a case of pulmonary tuberculosis and there is no travel history of patient and family members outside Ladakh this winter. The patient expired on February 5,” Dr Phuntsog Angchuk said.
