In the absence of political activities post August 5 last year, a new regional political party is being shaped by a group of “like-minded” former ministers and legislators from different parties of Jammu and Kashmir to address various issues of people.

The political party, after nearly seven months of “political freeze” following the revocation of the special status of J&K and its bifurcation into two Union Territories (UTs), may be launched early next month, according to Usman Majeed, a former minister and two-time MLA from the Bandipore constituency of north Kashmir. He has already resigned from the Congress party after over 18 years, saying there was a need to address the “genuine issues” of the public.
