The Delhi Police have detained six people for raising the controversial slogan "Desh ke gaddaron ko, goli Maro sa***n ko" at the Rajiv Chowk metro station today.

The Delhi Police said "six boys" were found shouting the slogans at Rajiv Chowk metro station. "We have detained them at Rajiv Chowk metro police station and interrogation is being carried out."

The "shoot the traitors" slogans were also raised inside a train on the Delhi Metro's Blue line.

The controversial "goli maro" slogan was popularised by Union minister Anurag Thakur in the run-up to the Delhi assembly election when he led a crowd to repeat the slogan after him. Since then, the slogan has been raised at many places to protest against anti-CAA protesters. The Delhi High Court is also hearing a plea seeking registering of FIR against Anurag Thakur for delivering hate speech when he led the crowd to chant the "goli maro" slogan.

"The five-six men, wearing saffron T-shirts and kurta, started the sloganeering when the train was about to halt at the metro station," news agency PTI said quoting one of its reporters who was at the spot.
