One more Covid patient was cured in Ladakh and discharged from the isolation ward of SNM Hospital, Leh, on Friday. Following this, the total number of Covid positive cases stands at 10 in the UT. The newly cured patient was identified as an employee of the Health Department who was in contact of the first patient, who had travel history of Iran. Commissioner Secretary Rigzin Sampheal, also the spokesman for Union Territory Ladakh, said the sample results of the patient had tested negative twice and he had been discharged from the hospital. However, he further said that the patient was now placed in quarantine and would be allowed to go home after 14 days. Sampheal said the Health Department had received 17 results on March 25 which were negative for Covid. Results of 15 samples were awaited. He said these results included 11 samples of Kargil and six of Leh. The positive cases had reduced from 13 to 10 as of now. They were all under treatment and their health condition was stable, Sampheal said. Meanwhile, with reports of people hiding their travel history in the region, the Commissioner Secretary appealed to all Ladakhis to report their recent foreign travel history with the district authorities, if not done already. He said under the National Disaster Management Act, the district deputy commissioners were empowered to take stringent action against persons hiding such information. Sampheal assured residents of uninterrupted supply of essential commodities during the lockdown. Ladakh UT Administration officials in Delhi are also coordinating with Airforce Cargo for supplies. The situation will ease further after the Zojila pass is opened for traffic.
