The Jammu and Kashmir Police have established a round-the-clock control room at the Nagrota police station to locate people who have allegedly hidden their travel history. The Union Territory Police along with the civil administration have identified several people at different places who have either traveled abroad or have come in contact with such persons and are allegedly not disclosing their travel history or following safety norms. “There are 67 persons who had not disclosed their travel history have been put under home quarantine and 12 patients along with17 attendants are also under quarantine at a hospital,” DSP Mohan Sharma said. We have collected the details of panchs and sarpanches and through them we are collecting the details of people who have come from abroad and outside the state. We have 434 outside labourers living in slum areas of Nagrota since a long time and we are giving them ration and other food materials during the lockdown. We are available for the public 24x7 and if anyone wants any help, they can reach out to us on the phone, the police said. Jammu SP (Rural) Suram Singh said, We are collecting data of individuals returning from abroad and other states with the help of panches, sarpanches and police volunteers. We have deployed extra force in rural areas and our priority is to implement the instructions of the government. So far, we have quarantined nearly 600 persons in homes in rural areas of Jammu district and many others are at quarantine centres in the Bantalab and Batara areas. We are providing them food and medical facilities. He added. “We have taken legal action against those persons who have not disclosed their travel history and those who are spreading fake information, the officer said.
