14 migrant workers killed in two separate accidents in UP and MP

Six migrant workers who were walking along the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway were killed after a speeding bus ran over them late last night, near Ghalauli check-post. A case has registered against unknown bus drive.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath announced Rs 2 Lakh each ex-gratia to next of the kin (NOK) of the deceased and compensation of Rs 50,000 each to injured. "Officers have been directed to send bodies of the workers to Bihar. Saharanpur Divisional Commissioner has been asked to submit a report after investigation," UP CMO said. In yet another tragic incident, eight labourers were killed and around 50 were injured after the truck they were travelling in, collided with a bus in Cantt PS area in Guna last night. Injured persons shifted to the district hospital. All the 8 killed labourers were going to their native places in UP from Maharashtra.Eight labourers lost their lives and 54 others were injured, they are being treated at the district hospital. Postmortem and further investigation are underway, said TS Baghel, ASP Guna. The incidents come just days after 16 workers died after being run over by a speeding locomotive in Aurangabad in Maharashtra. While special trains have been made operational to facilitate the travel of migrant labourers back to their home states, many have been walking on highways and along rail tracks to reach their respective destinations.
