The national capital, on Tuesday, witnessed a massive spike in the COVID-19 cases with 500 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours. The total tally of the COVID-19 cases in the city has now risen to 10,554. Out of the total cases, 5,638 cases are currently active. According to the official data by the Delhi government, 4750 people have so far been cured of the disease and have been discharged. Meanwhile, 166 people have so far succumbed to the illness. The Delhi government has also stated that 145854 tests have so far been conducted in the national capital. There are a total of 70 containment zones in Delhi, currently. According to the Delhi government, 2261 people who are COVID-19 positive are at home and/or under isolation.

Meanwhile, India, on Tuesday witnessed a spike of 4970 cases - taking the total tally in the country past 1 lakh. According to the Union Health Ministry, the active number of coronavirus cases in India now stands at 58,802.
According to the latest update by the ministry, 39,173 people have so far recovered from the illness in the country. However, 3,163 people have also lost their lives in connection with the deadly disease. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with more than 35,000 cases. Apart from that, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat currently have more than 11,000 cases.
