AGENCIES | NEW DELHI

Front-line posts of the Indian Army, as well as airbases of the Indian Air Force (IAF), have been put on high alert in view of the border clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh that left 20 Army personnel dead, official sources were quoted as saying by agencies. Indian Navy has also been asked to raise its alertness level in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), where the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy undertakes anti-piracy patrols.
The decision to raise the alertness level of the three forces was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
On Tuesday, Singh held a series of meetings with the three service chiefs as well as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat.
According to reports, the Army has already increased its deployment at crucial frontline bases and formations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in states of Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
