AGENCIES | NEW DELHI

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to cancel the pending exams for class 10. However, Class 12 students will be evaluated on their performance in the last three school exams. They can also appear for the board exam at a later date to improve performance, in case they are not satisfied with the marks given by the board.
Also, for students opting to improve their performance in the board exams (at a later date) will be considered final. The remaining CBSE papers which were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic were to be held from July 1 to 15, however, with the rapid rise in coronavirus cases across the country still continuing, the education board and government are reconsidering their decision.
CBSE had anyway suggested following the internal assessment norm for exams which it is not conducting. Out of 40-odd subjects, exams were being held only for 29 subjects. CBSE is not the only board to do the same, ICSE also said that it will give students an option to appear for paper pen based exams or opt out of it and get marks based on internal assessment.
The pending exams for Class 12 include 12 core subjects Business Studies, Geography, Hindi (Core), Hindi (Elective), Home Science, Sociology, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (New), Information Technology and Bio-Technology.
