Income Tax raids Ashok Gehlot's close aide, transactions outside India under scanner

Amidst a political drama that has unfolded in Delhi and Rajasthan, over 200 Income Tax (I-T) sleuths raided the residence of a close aide of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot suspecting transactions outside the country. The Income Tax department carried out searches at the residence of Congress leader Dharamender Rathore who is considered close to Ashok Gehlot. The Income Tax department has also conducted raids at the residence of Rajiv Arora, owner of a jewellery firm, in connection with tax evasion case. The searches have been carried out at over two dozen locations in Delhi and Rajasthan. Income Tax Department is conducting searches at several locations in Rajasthan, Delhi, and Maharashtra. The searches are going in Jaipur, Kota, Delhi, and Mumbai. IT Dept sources have said that these searches are being done on a complaint of tax evasion. Transactions outside the country are also under the scanner of the Income Tax department. Over 200 IT officials are involved in these searches. Meanwhile, ED, too, has begun searches on the properties of Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot's Ravi Kant Sharma. He is being questioned. ED has, however, maintained that the searches have no connection with the I-T searches
