Over 40 coronavirus patients have gone missing in Uttar Pradeshs Ghazipur, with the administration saying these people provided wrong mobile numbers and addresses to the labs where they gave their swab samples.
In a letter to the additional district magistrate, Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) Dr KK Verma said that at least 42 people, who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, are missing in the eastern district of Uttar Pradesh. Some people during the testing do not give the correct mobile number and address. After they are tested positive, it becomes difficult for us to track them. The issue also came to light when 42 people who had tested positive for Covid-19 could not be contacted on the listed phone numbers or on their home address mentioned in the form," the ACMO said on Friday. ACMO Dr KK Verma sought help to track those missing. Sources say some Covid-19 patients had been missing since last 15 days. Only after the number crossed the 40-mark the district health department raised the serious issue. So far, Ghazipur district has reported 10 Covid-19 related deaths, while active cases stand at 505.
