In his letter to Dhoni, PM Modi said, "130 crore Indians were disappointed (after his retirement) but also eternally grateful for all that you have done for Indian cricket in the last decade-and-a-half."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has heaped praise on Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his illustrious international cricket career, terming the two-time World Cup-winning former India captain as the embodiment of a new India where family name does not make ones destiny. A thankful Dhoni shared the letter on his Twitter page on Thursday, his first social media post on the platform since he announced his retirement, and thanked PM Modi for his appreciation. An Artist, Soldier and Sportsperson what they crave for is appreciation, that their hard work and sacrifice is getting noticed and appreciated by everyone.thanks PM @narendramodi for your appreciation and good wishes, Dhoni tweeted.
