TRS members were left red-faced on Tuesday after a woman MLA of the party, Gongidi Sunitha, said that while the gangrape and murder of Disha was sad, the death of the four accused in a police encounter must have been sad for their families as well.

Sunitha is the first TRS legislator to have shown sympathy for the families of the accused after the encounter even as several ministers have praised chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for ‘giving justice’ to Disha’s family. In fact, a couple of ministers – Talasani Srinivas Yadav and P Ajay Kumar – have said Telangana should be a role model for other states in delivering quick justice.
