The Administrative Council which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant-Governor, GC Murmu, has decided that the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES) would be rechristened as J&K Food Entitlement Scheme.

The Administrative Council also accorded sanction to J&K Special Sugar Scheme for AAY families. Over 2.33 lakh AAY families in the Union Territory will receive the benefit of the J&K Special Sugar Scheme. The families classified as AAY comprise the poorest of the poor sections of the society.

Under the scheme, 1 kg of sugar will be provided per AAY family per month through the point of sale (PoS) devices, at the subsidised rate of Rs 13.50 per kg with effect from January 2020.
