As India witnessed violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the Supreme Court today said the country was going through difficult times and that endeavor should be towards bringing about peace.

The observation came from a bench headed by the Chief Justice of India which refused to entertain a PIL seeking to declare the CAA constitutional and action against those spreading rumors and damaging public property.
