Over 5,000 families, mostly refugees from Pakistan-occupied J&K (PoJK), are on the verge of losing their houses after the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) initiated the process to acquire land for the Smart City project at Gole Panjpir village.

The land in question covers about 13 colonies housing thousands of people. The JDA is planning to acquire 2,603 kanals under the J&K Land Acquisition Act in a phased manner. However, officials are yet to explain for what purpose the land is to be utilized.
