355th Parkash Purb of 10th Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh Ji was celebrated at Digiana Ashram Jammu and other parts of Union Territory, as per the direction of Akal Takhat Sahib and according to the Nanak Shahi Calendar of SGPC Amritsar. The function was held under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch. Sangat of all walks of life from far and near areas participated in thousands and paid the obeisance.The Ragi Jatha Bhai Balkar Singh Bir (Ex Hazuri Ragi G Dukhniwaran Sahib, Ludhiana), Ragi Jatha Giani Bachan Singh Digiana Ashram Jammu, Ranjeet Singh UP, Digiana Ashram Jammu, Harneet Singh Ragi Jatha Simbal Camp, Parcharak Harvinder Singh, Parcharak Shiromani Gurdwara Amritsar Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Balwant Singh Parcharak, Fateh Singh Parcharak, did Kirtan, Katha and threw light on the sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh, who sacrificed his beloved sons, mother, father and many other Sikhs for righteousness and humanity. On the occasion, Sangat thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing 26th December as “Veer Baal Diwas” in the memory of four Sahib zadas. Ex ministers S Harbans Singh, R S Chib and DDC Member Taranjeet Singh Tony were present. The speakers from the stage gave reminder to the Government of JKUT as well as Government of India and demanded that the quota for refugee unemployed youths be fixed in recruitment at par with other reserved categories like SC and ST. They also demanded official language status to Punjabi in J&K, allotment of eight Assembly seats to Sikhs of Kashmir province, quota for Sikh youth in recruitment, enactment of Sikhs Anand Karaj Act in J&K, representation to a Sikh in J&K Service Selection Board, release of pending rehabilitation package of Rs 24.5 lakh out of Rs 30 lakhs in favour of PoK refugees, appointment of a Sikh as Judge of High Court of JKUT and appointment of a Sikh as Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K. Mahant Manjit Singh of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon Sikh community to adopt the path shown by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in every field of life to become true and pure Sikhs for serving the poor and needy people in the society and also work for the betterment of the country and become Amritdari and come to the field of education.
Other prominent religious Sikh personalities, who participated in the Gurpurab celebrations, included S Mohinder Singh (Chief Organizer Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Seva Society J&K & Ex Member DGPC Jammu), S Darbinder Singh (President Shiromani Akali Dal J&K), S Rajinder Singh (Secretary Digiana Ashram Jammu), S Gajan Singh (President J&K Motor Transport Company Association Jammu), S Karan Singh Bali (Member DGPC Jammu), S Avtar Singh (Member DGPC Jammu), S Tejinder Singh (Member DGPC Jammu), S Ajit Singh, S Raja Singh, S Ravinder Singh, S Kulwant Singh Khajuria, Prof Yudvir Singh, S Paramjeet Singh Rana, S Kuldeep Singh Malik, S Surjeet Singh Kuku S Kulwant Singh and S Kultar Singh . The Prakash Purb was celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety across the district. A grand function in this connection was held at Gurdwara Singh Sabha city Poonch where a large number of people from all walks of life participated in the congregation and paid the obeisance. General Secretary DGPC, Poonch, S Harcharan Singh anchored the programme. Bhai Ravinder Singh, Parcharak from Sikh Missionary Circle Poonch, threw light on the sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. President DGPC, Narinder Singh, threw light on the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
