Receding flood water; relief work underway

Floodwaters have started retreating in several places of Punjab and Haryana, bombarded by heavy cloudbursts before this week, and relief work is underway in affected areas in both countries, officers said on Saturday. With the trouble of water and vector-borne conditions brewing large in flood tide-affected areas, health department officers have been directed to take applicable ways to help any similar outbreak, they said

According to sanctioned data, 19 people have failed in rain-related incidents in Punjab while the death risk in Haryana stands at 20. Over 22,000 people have been moved to safety from doused points in colorful flood tide-hit sections of Punjab. In bordering Haryana, 4,495 people have been vacated. Fourteen sections – Patiala, Moga, Ludhiana, Mohali, Jalandhar, Sangrur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and SBS Nagar – have been affected in Punjab.
In Haryana, the number of sections affected by the recent heavy rain stands at 13 – Ambala, Fatehabad, Faridabad, Panchkula, Jhajjar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, Sonipat, Palwal, Sirsa, and Yamunanagar.

District authorities, along with the labor force from the Army, Border Security Force, and the National Disaster Response Force( NDRF), were involved in the relief operations. They also distributed dry sections, drugs, drinking water, and cattle fodder.
