Two terrorists were killed after army troops manning the Line of Control foiled an infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district early on Monday, officials said.

Officials said that the forces of the Degwar sector spotted the movement of some terrorists who tried to sneak to this side under the cover of darkness early in the morning and engaged them. They said two terrorists were killed in the firing but their bodies are yet to be recovered from the spot.
Defense Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal, based in Jammu, said a joint army-police team arrested two infiltrating terrorists in the Garh Battalion area around 2 am.
"One terrorist fell instantly, while the other terrorist tried to run back to the checkpoint, was engaged and was hit and was seen falling to the ground," the police said. The movement of terrorists has intensified in the general area of ​​Degwar Tarva, he said, adding that an operation is underway and more details are awaited.
