Cheteshwar Pujara's love affair with the English summer continued as he claimed his second List A cap in three games to lead Sussex to a comfortable four-wicket win over Somerset in the One Day Cup.
Pujara anchored the 319-run chase with an unbeaten 117 off 113 balls and took Sussex home in 11 balls on Friday.
However, Pujara's ton did not make any difference to Sussex's position in the group table as they finished bottom of the nine teams in Group B after their first win in this year's competition.
Pujara, who last played for India in the World Cup final before being dropped for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, has been in top form for most of Sussex's last two county seasons, scoring in both first-class and List A games.
In fact, Pujara joined Sussex for the rest of the season after completing the Duleep Trophy stage in the West Zone. For those who are considered a red ball specialist, Pujara enjoys an amazing list. At an average of 58.48 in 121 games, Friday's ton was his 16th in the 50-over format. He hit 11 boundaries in the process.
Andrew Umeed (119) and Curtis Campher (101) added 163 runs for Somerset as they posted 318/6 in 50 overs with a good batting sequence.
