The Kremlin announced on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not personally attend the G20 summit in India in September.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Putin accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine, which the Kremlin strongly denies. This means he is at risk of arrest when he travels abroad.

This week, he attended a meeting of leaders of the BRICS emerging economies in South Africa via video link rather than in person.
