India has yet to receive confirmation of Chinese President Xi Jinping's personal attendance at the upcoming G20 summit, people familiar with the matter said on Thursday, amid reports that he is unlikely to travel to New Delhi.
Most of the G20 leaders, including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, have already confirmed their participation in the top.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he will not be able to travel to India for the summit.
India will host the G20 summit in New Delhi on September 9-10.

China has not yet confirmed Xi's personal attendance at the summit, the people cited above said. Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press conference in Beijing that he had nothing to offer on the matter.
"As for Chinese leaders attending the G20 summit, I have nothing to offer at this time," Wang said.

Relations between India and China have been under severe strain since the deadly clashes in the Galwan Valley in June 2020.
