US President Joe Biden left the US for India at 4:00 AM IST on Friday after his latest Covid check-up. His first engagement soon after leaving is a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMO instead of the usual Hyderabad house, followed by a busy dinner. The US president did not answer questions as he left for India and Vietnam.
Both sides gave positive signals before the meeting, reassessing the scope of possible cooperation between the United States and India in the strategic field and the position of both countries in relation to China at a time when the United States and Australia made an opening move to Beijing from the sources.

Biden's arrival came after his administration secured authorization from the US Congress for approved manufacturing and technology transfer of GE jet engines in India, in line with India's goal of advanced manufacturing capabilities in a number of areas. India, on the other hand, has hinted at a process for General Atomics to buy the highly advanced MQ-9B Reaper, with a contract to be awarded next year before the countries go into selection mode.
