The first meeting of the high-level commission to review and make recommendations for holding simultaneous elections will be held on September 23, said former president Ram Nath Kovind, who heads it.
On September 2, the government announced an eight-member committee to study and make recommendations for the simultaneous holding of elections to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, municipalities, and panchayats.
"The first meeting will be held on September 23," Kovind told reporters here on Saturday.
He was in Bhubaneswar to attend a meeting of a private university.
