J&K: Snowfall in Sonamarg; night temperature increases at a few spots

Jammu and Kashmir's Sonamarg vacationer resort recorded light snowfall for the second day on Friday while the Meteorological Division estimate huge improvement in climate across the Association Domain, authorities said.

The three-week drought in Kashmir finished on Thursday with snowfall in the higher ranges of the Valley and downpours in the fields.

While snowfall was kept in Gulmarg in north Kashmir, Sonamarg in focal Kashmir, and different regions in the center and higher arrives at on Thursday, light snowfall went on in Sonamarg, in Ganderbal area, on Friday morning also, the authorities said.

The Met Office said a few spots experienced mostly to commonly shady climate with light snow over Sonamarg and connecting regions.

In any case, it said, there would be a huge improvement in the climate towards the midday over most places and the weather conditions is probably going to stay dry ahead.

From December 2 to 7, the weather conditions would remain somewhat overcast, while from December 8 to 10, it would be part of the way to by and large shady, the authorities said.

There would be a fall in the base temperature by three to five degrees, they said.

The night temperature climbed altogether at a few spots in the Valley with Gulmarg being the main weather conditions station where the mercury settled beneath the edge of freezing over on Thursday night.

The base temperature in Srinagar, the mid year capital of Jammu and Kashmir, was 4.5 degrees Celsius while Qazigund recorded a low of 2.2 degrees Celsius.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag locale recorded a low of 0.5 degrees Celsius while the mercury in Gulmarg settled at less 1.8 degrees Celsius.
