Cold wave fixes grasp on Valley as Srinagar shudders at - 2.6°C

Srinagar encountered the coldest evening of the time such a long ways as the virus conditions heightened in Kashmir and the base temperature across the Valley settled underneath the edge of freezing over, authorities said on Thursday.

Srinagar, the mid year capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of short 2.6 degrees Celsius, down from less 2 degrees Celsius the earlier evening, they said.

It was the coldest evening of the time such a long ways in the city, the authorities said.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag locale, which fills in as one of the headquarters for the yearly Amarnath yatra, saw the base settling at less 4.9 degrees Celsius, they said.

It was the coldest region in the Valley on Wednesday night.

The popular ski resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla region recorded a low of less 2.5 degrees Celsius, the authorities said. Qazigund recorded a low of short 2.2 degrees Celsius, down from less 1.6 degrees Celsius the earlier evening, they said. Kokernag town in south Kashmir enrolled a base temperature of short 1.4 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara recorded a low of less 3.1 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological office said the weather conditions would remain halfway to commonly shady, however principally dry till December 11 and there would be a fall in the night temperature by a couple of degrees.

From December 12 to 15, there is plausible of light downpour/snow at confined places in the higher compasses of Jammu and Kashmir, the MeT Office said.
