IMD issues high alert for thick haze in north India; flights, trains postponed

Chilly climate conditions alongside moderate haze won in numerous areas of the Delhi-NCR on Saturday.

The base temperature kept in the public capital was 10.7 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Office (IMD) gave a high alert for thick haze in north India.

"Thick Haze Warning for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh: Be cautious while driving or outing through any vehicle. Use haze lights while driving. Be in contact with carriers, railroads, and state transport for your process plan," the IMD said in a post on X.

The IMD cautioned of 'troublesome driving circumstances with more slow excursion times' and redirection in air terminals, parkways and rail route courses.

Flights and trains kept on being postponed and redirected because of low perceivability. According to sources, around 80 flights were accounted for deferred because of weather patterns at Indira Gandhi Global Air terminal in Delhi on Saturday till 8.30 am.
