Mercury dunks further in Kashmir in the midst of cold wave, Pahalgam coldest with - 11.9 degrees Celsius

Cold wave conditions strengthened in Kashmir on Monday as temperatures plunged further underneath edge of freezing over all things considered places in the valley, authorities said here.

Srinagar, the late spring capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of short 0.4 degrees Celsius, as per the climate office.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir, which fills in as the headquarters for the yearly Amarnath yatra, was the coldest kept place in the valley the previous evening. It recorded a low of less 11.9 degrees Celsius, plunging from short 3.5 degrees Celsius the earlier evening.

Temperatures in Gulmarg in north Kashmir fell by three scores to less 10 degrees Celsius from earlier night's short 7 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag and Qazigund towns in south Kashmir recorded a low of short 1.4 degrees Celsius and less 3.3 degrees Celsius separately, the authorities said.

According to the MeT office conjecture, the weather conditions is supposed to work on in Kashmir from Tuesday.

In spite of the fact that 'Chilla-I-Kalan' — the 40-day cruelest winter period — finished recently, the virus wave has gone on in Kashmir.

The valley is at present going through a 20-day 'Chilla-I-Khurd' (little cool) which will be trailed by a 10-day 'Chilla-I-Bachha' (child cold).
