Discount expansion facilitates to 0.27 percent in January

In January, food prices moderated, leading to a decrease in the wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation rate of 0.27 percent.
WPI expansion was at 0.73 percent in December 2023.
From April to October, WPI inflation was negative, but it had risen to 0.39 percent in November.
"The yearly pace of expansion in light of the All India Discount Value File (WPI) number is 0.27 percent (temporary) for the period of January 2024 (over January 2023)," the business and industry service said in an explanation on Wednesday.
Food expansion facilitated to 6.85 percent in January, contrasted with 9.38 percent in December 2023, information showed.
Expansion in vegetables was 19.71 percent in January, down from 26.3 percent in the former month. The WPI expansion in beats was at 16.06 percent in January, while in natural products it was 1.01 percent.
In January 2023, wholesale inflation was 4.8%.
