10 killed as SUV falls into gorge in J-K's Ramban

Ten individuals were killed as a SUV slid off the Jammu-Srinagar Public Thruway and fell into a canyon in Ramban region on Friday, authorities said.

The vehicle, a Tavera, was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu and it fell into a 300-ft-profound chasm in Battery Cheshma region of the locale around 1.15 am, they said.

Ten individuals had passed on, the authorities said.

Police and State Catastrophe Reaction Power (SDRF) staff are at the spot. The collections of 10 travelers had been recuperated in the midst of weighty downpour, the authorities said.

They said the vehicle's driver, Balwan Singh (47), of Amb Ghrotha in Jammu and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang of West Champaran in Bihar are among the departed.

Salvage activity is in progress, the authorities said.
