On the second day after terrorists opened fire on an ambulance that was a part of an Army convoy in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir on October 29, 2024, Army jawans were seen close to the scene of the clash between security forces and terrorists.
Early on Tuesday evening, the security forces killed the two remaining militants, who were thought to be Pakistanis, who were hiding in dense forest in Jammu's Akhnoor district. On Monday, one ultra was slain.
Additionally, the Army has found warlike items among the terrorists who were killed, indicating that they were likely preparing a strike in Jammu during the current holiday season in front of Diwali.
The White Knight Corps of the Army, stationed in Jammu, claimed in a statement that "all three tough terrorists have been eliminated post heavy firefighting. Following 24-hour monitoring through the night, a fierce firefight broke out this morning, giving our soldiers a major victory. Three terrorists had been killed as a result of relentless operations and superior tactical skills. A crucial element in preserving regional stability was the operation's successful recovery of warlike supplies.
The Army's employment of BMP 2 battle vehicles throughout the operation in the densely forested area was successful in identifying and destroying the terrorists. The ultras attempted to breach the Army's formidable perimeter shortly after the first light of Tuesday, but they were quickly routed. The ultras were hiding in the vicinity of the Assan shrine.
On Monday, the Army lost a canine named Phantom when its handler let it go in search of the ultras who were hiding. The dog died after being struck by a bullet.
Later in the day, the Army and police are due to provide a media briefing.
