May 23, 2025: On Friday, Leonid Slutsky, the chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, and other State Duma members welcomed an all-party parliamentary delegation headed by DMK Member of Parliament Kanimozhi.
Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Rajeev Rai, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Captain Brijesh Chowkta, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Prem Chand Gupta, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Ashok Kumar Mittal, and former Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri were among the delegation members that Russia's Federal Assembly received.
"The Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, H.E. Mr. Leonid Slutsky, along with other Members of the State Duma, received MPs @KanimozhiDMK, @RajeevRai, @CaptBrijesh, @guptapc50, @DrAshokKMittaland @ambmanjeevpuri," the post read on X.
The team also met with Russian senators earlier in the day in Moscow, including Andrey Denisov, the first deputy chair of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The Indian Embassy in Russia wrote on X, "Coming together to combat terrorism! In the Russian Federation's Federation Council, an all-party delegation led by Hon. MP @KanimozhiDMK was there, along with several senators and HE Andrey Denisov, the first deputy chair of the Committee on International Affairs.
The all-party parliamentary delegation was briefed earlier today on a number of topics pertaining to India-Russia relations by Vinay Kumar, India's ambassador to Russia.
On Friday, the DMK MP Kanimozhi headed an all-party group that landed in Moscow. The delegation was welcomed by Vinay Kumar, India's ambassador to Russia.
Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain are among the nations visited by the delegation, which is showcasing Operation Sindoor and India's steadfast anti-terrorism efforts.
SP MP Rajeev Rai, NC MP Mian Altaf Ahmad, BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowkta, RJD MP Prem Chand Gupta, AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal, former Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri, and NCP MP Jawed Ashraf are also part of Kanimozhi's delegation.
India's national unity and unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations was portrayed by the all-party delegation. It will send a clear message to the rest of the world that terrorism will not be tolerated.
Kanimozhi had earlier claimed that the administration has dispatched Members of Parliament from different parties to other nations to explain India's stance on terrorism and the rationale behind the decision to cooperate with Russia in light of the ongoing terror assaults. At a time when India has been continuously targeted by terrorist assaults, she said it is crucial to communicate with Russia.
"Russia has been a strategic partner, and we have always worked together on diplomatic matters and trade," Kanimozhi told ANI. Reaching out to Russia is crucial at this time because we have been repeatedly targeted by terrorist strikes. After 26 people were killed in India, the government and prime minister decided to send members of parliament from various parties from all around the nation to speak for India against terrorism and to clarify our stance to the rest of the world."
The delegation will visit Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain following its visit to Russia.
