CU Announces National Level Entrance Test “CUCET-2020”

Chandigarh University announces the National Level Entrance Test “CUCET-2020” for admissions of the new academic sessions.

“Based upon its strong & modern academic model, research initiatives, smart & technology-driven, industry patronage, record campus placements, student achievements at international & national sports, technical, cultural competitions and international tie-ups Chandigarh University Gharuan has been able to place itself into the list elite universities and institutions of India,” said Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University. He was interacting with the media during a press conference at Jammu.
The Vice-Chancellor said that “Established in the year 2012, Chandigarh University has become the youngest university in India to earn the honor to be ranked A+ Grade University by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)”.

While replying to the questions, VC added that “During the tenure of 7 years of Chandigarh University, the number of students studying from J&K has increased by 60% and currently about 1762 students from different part of the state are currently studying in various professional courses at university campus which includes 868 students from Jammu”. While announcing the new admission policy for the academic session 2020-21, Dr. Bawa said, “Chandigarh University would be conducting its own National level Entrance Test CUCET-2020 which would be mandatory for the Engineering and MBA programs while for the other 109 programs offered by the university, the test would offer academic scholarships worth Rs. 27 crores for the students”. The National level Entrance Test CUCET-2019 is slated to be conducted online
(www.cucet.cuchd.in) in three phases where the registration of Phase-I will end by December 20. More than 10,000 students have already registered for the first phase while the second phase will start from January to April and the final phase would be held from May to July.

With a view to impart industry-oriented academic learning, Chandigarh University has started many new age programs in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Business Analytics, Big Data, Banking & Financial Engineering, Food Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, added Dr. Bawa. He further said that as the university is following flexible choice based academic learning approach which has become a necessity of the hour, the students and faculty have scaled new heights and set new records in every fields such as filing of more than 400 patents in time-span of 3 years, establishing 250+ academic tie-ups with international universities around the world, campus placements by more than 627 multi-nationals and wining more than 86 medals in various International and National Sports Championships.

While making yet another announcement, Dr. Bawa said, “After carving out a special niche for itself in the field of professional education, Chandigarh University has got UGC nod to run Distance Learning programs from the January 2020 session”. The admission process has already started for 10 programs which include BBA, BCA, B.Com, BA, B.Sc (Travel & Tourism), MBA, MCA, M.Com, MA English and MA Psychology.


Highlighting the achievements of students from J&K in the year 2019, Dr. Bawa said, “More than 468 students from J&K have bagged jobs during campus placements with 72 students having more than 2 offers in their hand”. Vivek Singh from Jammu, a mechanical engineering has bagged 4 offers from Wipro, Chegg India, Devel Flow, and Torrent while Sharvinder Kaur, a computer science engineering student from Baramulla have got offers from IBM, Cognizant and Newgen Technologies. In addition, the students belonging to J&K have established 10 start-ups and filled 18 patents in various fields during 2019, Dr. Bawa added.
