Member of the Legislative Assembly from Mendhar Javed Rana on Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Sangiote village in the Balakote tehsil of the Mendhar constituency and listened to the problems of people.
Rana was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival in the village. He held a public meeting in which locals apprised him of the problems being faced by them.

Addressing the meeting, Rana said the delay in the work on the Sangiote road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme was a cause for concern. He said the officials concerned should have completed the work before the funds sanctioned had exhausted. “We don’t have to look towards past but towards future. I want to inform you that a fresh sanction of Rs 40 lakh has been made under the PMGSY and the work on the Sangiote road will start soon. The blacktopping of the already completed stretch will be done at the earliest,” the MLA said.

He told the locals that the Public Health Engineering Department had sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore for a water supply scheme in the area and he was following the process and was hopeful that the work on the water supply scheme would start in a few weeks. Locals also raised the shortage of infrastructure at Government High School, Sangiote.

The MLA announced that 100 desks would be provided from his constituency development fund to the school.
In his address, the Mendhar MLA also appealed to the Central government to ensure that all initiatives of restoring normalcy on the borders were taken.
