Mobile phone services were barred in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday after the killing of two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants in an encounter with government forces.

The two militants – residents of Bomai and Brath Kalan villages of Sopore – were killed in a brief operation by a joint party of police and army in Nathipora village early today.

An official said that the measure was taken to “prevent law and order situation” following the killing of two militants.
