Viraj Kala Kendra organizes All India Art Exhibition

A three days All India Art Exhibition was organized by Viraj Kala Kendra in collaboration with JAKFAS, Jammu at Viraj Art Gallery, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in memory of Late Gobind Kaur, 1st woman contemporary sculptor of J&K State.
Art works of senior and young artists of Jammu along with the works of artists from Chandigarh and Himachal Pardesh have been displayed in the exhibition. Mrs Raj Bharti, President Viraj Kala Kendra, inaugurated the exhibition. S Amrik Singh Namdhari, a veteran sculptor of the state was the Guest of Honour whereas Sh. Jang S. Verman, senior artist and columnist on art and culture was the special guest on this occasion.
Seventeen paintings and ten sculptures have been displayed in this show. The works of Milan Sharma, Anuradha Devi, Amrit Kaur, Jatinder Kaur, Rekha Gupte, Manoj Chopra, Anup GuptaSahil Ohri, Darshan Singh, Rohit Verma, Suresh JAKFAS, Rohit Sharma, Virji Sumbly, Sonu Agarwal, Chander Parkash, Bhushan Kesar, Raj Bharti, Amrik Singh Namdhari, Jang S. Verman and Late Gobind Kaur from Jammu and Prabhinder Lall and Gurcharan Singh from Chandigarh and Late Naveen Dhiman (Suner Nagar, HP) have been displayed.
A rich variety of techniques, content and expressions was seen in the works of well known artist participating in this show. Many of the artists like Prabhinder Lall and Late Naveen Dhiman have been recipient of Senior Fellowships in the field of Visual Art (Painting). Again many artists like Amrik Singh Namdhari, Late Gobind Kaur, Rohit Verma, Jang S Verman, Bhushan Kesar, Harshvardhan Sharma and others participating in the exhibition are the recipient of multiple national level awards.
In her address Raj Bharti appreciated the contribution in the field of art, particularly sculpture, of Late Gobind Kaur who had been the disciple of Late V R Khajuria, a renowned sculptor of the State. She said that Gobind Kaur was not only a good teacher at Institute of Music and Fine Arts but a very good human being blessed with the art of sculpture, drawing making and print making also.
Suresh, secretary, JAKFAS and Jang S Verman also expressed their views.
Others present on this occasion included Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, S Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Sham Lal Sharma and S Rajpaul Singh Mastana, Pesident, Punjabi Sahit Sangam, Jammu etc.
