Shyamwar Rai, the family driver who turned approver in the Sheena Bora murder case, told the trial court on Friday Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukerjea — facing trial for her murder — gave him a parcel in 2012, which he opened to find a gun.

This is the third day Rai was being cross-examined. Rai, who was the family driver, also said he thought of throwing away the parcel twice.

Defence counsel Sudeep Pasbola asked Rai, “Did madam tell you to dispose of the parcel or to keep it safe?” Rai said, “When I was dropping her to the airport, Indrani madam told me to keep the parcel safely”.

Asked if he attempted to throw away the weapon later, Rai told the court he “thought about” it, and added he first opened the parcel after he stopped working for Indrani.

He told the court the police started questioning him about the murder after he was arrested with the gun in August 2015.
